Another One of Mom’s Brilliant Ideas

One Sunday last fall, shortly after we moved, my parents were running late to church. The church was still being built so they were meeting at a temporary place. There was construction near the parking lot and my parents came across a closed sidewalk. Mom told Dad that it would be faster to climb over the temporary barrier rather than waste time and go around. So, in their Sunday best clothing, they crashed their way through. After church, Mom noticed that there was a HUGE rip and hole in Dad’s new Brooks Brothers pants. Uh oh, oooops. Guess they aren’t made for climbing over construction barriers, eh? I hope nobody sitting behind my Dad noticed because his boxer shorts were completely sticking out.  Can we say awkward?

Recent Shenanigans

My Mom makes people laugh without even trying.  Her life it like a sitcom and there’s never a dull moment in our lives.  Earlier this year, Mom was sitting in the jacuzzi tub at her gym after a class. She attached her locker key safety pin on her swim suit shoulder strap. The fast water currents and waterfall made her key travel to the back of her swimsuit.  She didn’t know that and she was frantically searching around both tubs for the key! The currents were making it very difficult to see what was under the water and there was a sign warning people not to spend more than five minutes in the jacuzzi. Mom did not want to walk all the way to the lobby in her swimsuit because it was still cold at the time.  She just kept moving her feet around underneath the water, hoping to find that tiny safety pin with her locker key attached to it.  An old Chinese couple nearby starting laughing loudly at Mom and the wife pointed to the key was at the back of her swimsuit.  Mom was relieved that she found her key and was so embarrassed!

A couple of weeks ago, we had some nice Mexican people install some travertine tiles in our kitchen floor. It was messy work and when they were done, they asked Mom who her cleaning lady was. She said, “Me”. One guy started to laugh hysterically. He kept pointing to Mom and asking, “You?! You?! You?!” He looked around our McMansion and kept laughing. Maybe he couldn’t believe that someone in our neighbourhood would clean their own house? He left the number of a cleaning lady for Mom.

Remembering Sweet Maddie

I’ve been friends with the BB Gang for quite some time.  I don’t even remember when we became friends.  It’s like they’ve always been a part of my life.  Maddie, Cam, Biscuit, and Bella were the original five.  We don’t know what happened to Bella.  Maybe she disappeared into the secret identity doggie protection program! Well, I’m sad to report that we lost our sweet Maddie on May 18th, 2014.  Maddie went over the rainbow quite suddenly.  Her family and friends are heartbroken and devastated.  There’s not a day that I don’t think of sweet Maddie and smile!  Good-bye, my sweet friend.  I’ll see you again one day!  I love you, sweet girl.  image

Update!

Sorry about the lack of updates.  Mom and I have been super busy with the new house.  I’ve been supervising (and possibly bossing) my Mom around while she unpacks and organizes the house.  It’s going to take a while to set up the house.  It’s too messy for pictures right now!  This little doggie can not believe that it is December 16th and that December is almost over!  Time stand still, please?  Mom has so much to do in the next two months.

We have a busy schedule now until the end of February.  Things should calm down after February.  Mom can really start working on the house in March.  She has a long list of projects for the house but they will have to wait until then.

I’m having fun at the new house!!  It’s nice to finally be home, even if it resembles a frat house/mini dumpster/storage room right now!  I hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful merry Christmas!

Ta ta for now!

Truck Stops

Last month, we visited our fair share of truck stops.  When we drove from Los Angeles to Houston, we stopped at a bunch of them for snack and potty breaks.  I even hung out with a large group of motorcycle biker guys at a truck stop in Albuquerque.  They were mean looking guys wearing all black but they enjoyed playing with me. I guess even Matlese dogs are okay for motorcycle biker guys.

When we arrived in Houston, Dad had to weigh our car twice, once with all our stuff in the car and once without.  When we went to the truck store, the “on” button for the scale was up very very high.  Image

Now, Dad is regular height, 5 foot 9, but he had to jump up to reach the right button to press. See the yellow box? That’s where the buttons are! There were lots of truckers in their big rig trucks resting right by the scale.  I’m sure the sight of a guy in a business suit jumping up and down at the yellow scale box gave them a good laugh. Dad said that if couldn’t reach the yellow box, his plan B was to lift up Mom so that she could reach it.  Ha ha! That would have been super hilarious! Thankfully, the box was accessible for a 5 foot 9 guy.

At the cash register, they gave out trucker cards with the receipts. The cards have pictures of big rig trucks along with the driver’s bio. Mom has placed the trucker cards on the hotel fridge to decorate our hotel room. She’s really trying to get into the Texas spirit but it’s not working. You can take a girl out of LA but you can’t take LA out of a girl. At least there are some good LA type shopping places here in Houston. Mom has really enjoyed shopping at the Galleria Mall, City Center and Highland Village. These three places certainly don’t have truck stops!

Well, I hope everyone has a good rest of the day! Ta ta for now!

People Pets Cute Pic

Yesterday was an exciting Wednesday. It was bath day so I tried to sleep all day to avoid my bath. Mom took pictures of me taking a nap. One turned out fairly well so she entered it in People Magazine’s Pet Twitter cute pic of the day thing. They chose my picture as picture of the day! Yippee! It totally makes up for all those pet store Halloween costume contests that I’ve lost, he he! Grandma in Canada (Mom’s Mom) was so proud and so was Dad! What a fun honour! Here is the link and the picture:

I did end up getting my bath after I woke up, lol. It was hard work for both of us. Mom needed a bath herself after she was done! At least I’m all fluffy and clean now!  I hope everyone has a good Thursday! Ta ta for now!

Room Service, Please

We have been at the hotel for six nights now.  Yesterday was certainly exciting. We had lots of visitors! Visitors, you ask? Didn’t you guys just move here? Who does your Mom know? Well, the people visiting were the hotel maintenance crew and one of the maids. The first night we arrived, Dad put his suits and dress shirts in the closet and the hanging rod collapsed.

image

Ha ha, oooops. Dad called the front desk and they immediately sent some guys to fix the closet. Dad put his work clothes in the closet again. Guess what happened? The closet collapsed again! This was Mom’s solution:

image

Mom “borrowed” one of the hotel luggage trolley things to hang up Dad’s clothes! Those things looked quite sturdy and the hotel had more than one.  But we couldn’t borrow that thing forever. Dad had to go to Bed, Bath and Beyond and buy a portable hanging closet. Never mind the fact that Mom already has two in storage and our new house will have lots of closets. What are we going to do with three of those things at our new house?! Moving is sure expensive! I’m a little worried about what is happening to my doggie treats and toys allowance fund. Grrrr!

image

I’m not sure if this portable closet will last six weeks. The first night, it either fell towards the desk or the couch. It would not stand up straight and it made Mom laugh! Dad had to place heavy suitcases or boxes on the bottom to make it less like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Mom finally had the courage to tell the front desk that the closet collapsed again. It took four guys and two sessions (morning and afternoon) to fix it. The rods ripped big holes in the wall the second time the closet collapsed. They had to put the nails in a completely different place. Perhaps putting nails into empty drywall wasn’t such a good idea in the first place? I heard Dad tell Mom that finding a wood beam inside the wall might work better. I hope the maintenance guys did that or the next hotel guest will have the same adventure/saga.

In between all that excitement, the maid came for room service. We definitely had a lot of visitors yesterday! Mom and I didn’t really get to spend much time in our room. Today will be a day of rest INSIDE our room, lol!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! Ta ta for now!

A New Chapter Begins

Yesterday was Dad’s first day at his new job.  Mom and I stayed in the hotel and crashed.  Mom was super non-stop busy the past few weeks and had mostly been running on fumes or panic.  She now gets to catch up on some much needed rest.  I’m taking good care of her!

We slept on the bed together and took lots of naps with the tv on.  We watched part of a tv show on the Travel Channel about the Calgary Stampede and poutine.  That made Mom homesick for her homeland.  Mom pinned a few things on Pinterest and looked at high end and lower end Houston real estate listings for fun.  I guess she’s now a stay-at-home wife and pet Mom.  I love being a stay at home doggie/pet.  Lazy Monday for this little Maltese and his Mom!

Mom did manage to do one productive thing.  She washed the dishes that were sitting in the sink.  When Dad came home, he asked her why she didn’t use the dishwasher.  There were actually enough dishes to do a dishwasher load. Oooops. Mom forgot that there was even a dishwasher in the hotel mini kitchen. Oooops. Ha ha!

Dad had a good first day at work.  He is going to be so busy now!  He left early today for a conference or meeting somewhere on the other side of town.  It’s a good thing that Mom isn’t working now.  Taking care of me is already a full time job!

Living in Houston is going to be a big adjustment for our family.  We are definitely not living in LA anymore.  I will keep everyone updated on our Texan adventure.  I hope y’all have a fantastic day!

The New Fresh Prince in Town

On August 12th, we found out that my Dad got a job in Houston.  We arrived in Houston this last Tuesday night (October 1st).  I slept on the first day of the drive.  I looked out the (closed) window for most of the second day!

imageimage

We stayed at a house the first night and I had lots of fun running up and down the stairs.  Here are two videos of me zooming up and down the stairs.

Our house is being built right now and will be finished in the middle of November. It’s a MacMansion compared to our old house is West LA. I guess you can call me the Fresh Prince of Houston. We are staying in a hotel for about six weeks. It should be quite the adventure.
image

It’s hard work barking at all the hotel guests and maids that walk down the hall. Life here is going to be soooo different compared to LA. I’ll let you know all about it in future posts. Until then, good night, sleep well, sweet dreams, and ta ta for now!

Help, She’s Fallen and She Can’t Get Up!

My Mom used to teach at a school.  One day, she slipped and fell in the parking lot.  A group of boy students ran over to rescue her.  One of the boys didn’t realize that she was a teacher and tried to help her up.  Mom was super embarrassed and started laughing so hard that she started crying but the kids didn’t realize that she wasn’t actually hurt.  Things got more ridiculous when some tiny tangerine oranges started rolling away from her bag.  The same boy that tried to help her get up was now chasing mini oranges and catching them.  That made Mom laugh even more and she couldn’t get up because she was laughing so hard.  I’m sure the kids thought she was weird!
